PEP Intermedius is a network of cash merchants that serves as the bridge for unbanked customers and the financial system.

The team — Who are we?

PEP was founded in 2004 by Paul Otieno and Frederik Eijkman, both of whom have a solid background in the financial world. Paul and Frederik shared the vision of creating a financial institution that would give the poorest unbanked members of society access to financial services.

Paul Otieno
is a former banker who held senior management positions at the headquarters of the Co-operative Bank of Kenya, including senior manager responsible for banking operations and controls as well as risk management.
